Ritual Retreat – Embracing wellness in the bathroom
It seems that the busier our lives become, the more we need to find the extra time to go to a spa or escape for a long weekend. So here, ND interior Design created a space where the calm and relaxation could be within the clients own home.
The idea was to turn the bathroom into a soothing wellness space, so you can find a moment of calm as often as you like, whether that’s sinking into the tub at the end of the day or reviving your spirits with a refreshing spritz in the shower.
We choose the timeless and contemporary marvellous marble as both floor and wall tiles. Creating a streamlined, calming look. All colours chosen were of the same hue to enable the room to feel relaxing, alongside a variety of indoor plants. Studies show indoor plants are beneficial for the body and mind, so put them in your bathroom and bring the outdoors in! Which is what we did here. Marble is a popular finish for a bathroom focused on wellness. Marbling on paper is often used as an activity in mindfulness classes – because the effect you create is random each time, it’s a good lesson in learning how to go with the flow. Therefore a swirling marble pattern can encourage the mind to ‘let go’ of the stresses of the day.
Alongside well-styled areas, so the space feels uncluttered but pleasing to the eye, creating a place you want to keep revisiting.
